You will need between $15,000 to $30,000 annually to cover tuition and other school fees. This will vary depending on the institution and program of study you have chosen. The costs for living will depend on your location and own needs, but you should have at least $11,000-$12,000 to cover your basic needs. Can I apply for a Study Permit without English exam results? In certain circumstances you can, but in most cases, you will require the Academic IELTS test results in order to prove your proficiency in English. Even if the institute you have chosen does not require an IELTS test, and allows admission based off of Duolingo and similar types of exams, it is not advisable to apply for a Study Permit without Academic IELTS.

In some cases, you can. But options are limited and depend on your background. Most schools in Canada require the Academic IELTS test results in order to prove your English proficiency. Even if the program does not mandate a test, presenting good language test results could assist you with the Study Permit application process. You can take IELTS Academic tests only. Unfortunately, Duolingo is not an option. You could use Duolingo only for admission purposes if your educational institution accepting the results of this test but not for a Study Permit Application.

Yes, in all cases you must provide proof of funds to cover your tuition costs and living expenses. This can be shown in a number of ways depending on if you are applying through the Student Direct Stream or not.

Yes. Scholarships are available for international students in Canada. However, the majority of educational institutions are granting scholarships only to international students who are already in Canada and have outstanding academic achievements. Based on our experience, it is possible to get a scholarship even before coming to Canada. However, you need to have an outstanding achievement from your home country or country of residence.

If you have graduated from a Designated Learning Institute (DLI), you can receive a Post-Graduate Work Permit for a duration of 1 to 3 years depending on the length of the program you graduated from. From there you can explore various Permanent Residence options.

If you are an international student studying full-time at a public or private Designated Learning Institute (DLI) while studying a program or course that is eligible for a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP), your spouse is eligible to apply for an Open Work Permit while you study.

Colleges tend to be more directly career-oriented than universities. This means they offer practical or hands-on training. You can take a 1-year post-graduate program or a 2–3-year diploma program and be eligible for a PGWP to gain Canadian Work Experience and apply for PR. However, it’s only possible if the college that you apply for is eligible for Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP). Universities, for instance, are institutions that can grant degrees, such as undergraduate (bachelor’s) degrees, Masters and doctoral programs. Many universities also offer professional programs, such as medicine, dentistry and law. After graduating from university, you will also be able to apply for PGWP.

To assess your credentials, prepare the required documents, find your ideal program of study, and apply for it, we require 2 to 4 weeks. The processing time for a letter of acceptance varies by institution and can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months (average is around 30 days). After receiving all the required documentation, we will submit your study permit application within 7-10 business days. IRCC study permit processing time varies by country and program. This can take anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks.
